"What an evolution from when I first started to play rugby in the early 70's. There was very little information about this 'new' game. A great resource!"

Rugby Decision making Drill: 2 vs 2 (loop and step inside)

Description

This is a basic 2 vs 2 drill to allow players to progress from a simple 2 v 1.

In a channel no wider than 10m, 2 attackers have 5 attempts to score a try on the red cones.

The attackers try to create space and beat the defenders by running good support and holding lines.

Coaching Points

right attacker needs to run at right defender, so the defence slides quicker to cover the loop

timing of side step is crucial. Ball carrier needs to scan the left defender to see if over committed before deciding on how far to step
