Ice Hockey: Four Passes - Working in Fours

What a fantastic tool. I 've found a few drills that are unfamiliar,...
Wes, Rugby Coach

DESCRIPTION

Four players work with one puck around the center circle, working in two pairs.

The first pair play 4 passes across the area. On receiving the 4th pass the red player plays a one-two pass to one of the blue players as they move in a counter-clockwise direction around the circle.

Once the pairs have swapped positions the drill continues.

COACHING POINTS

This drill should be played continuously.

Look for good speed and control of passing, with quick movement from players around the circle.

Progression:

You can call out "Change". On hearing this call players will continue to play but now moving in a clockwise direction.
