Protecting Space for Beginners

This session develops your players' attacking skills, focusing on getting free from their player by holding the space in order to gain the best opportunity to score a goal.

Holding the space (also known as setting a screen) prevents defending players from reaching the ball, and allows your player to move into the space and open up the court.

What's in the session?

To teach your juniors this energy-saving skill this session has 5 drills to get your players protecting their space, with clear explanations for you as coach how they relate to the skill and coaching tips to help your players master this technique.

Why is creating space in netball important?

Space is essential in netball - if the court is congested your players will find it difficult to make leads and it will be easier for the opposition to intercept the ball.
