What are some drills for GD defending and pass intercepts?
it really depends on age. but a good start is teaching in front defence. so teach shadowing, fast footwork, and peripheral vision. start with the defence in front with her back to the opposition chest (ie both facing the same way, one in front of the other), then have the person behind move a few paces to one side them back and have the defence stay with her by watching out of the corner of her eye. once she is keeping up add a pass to everytime the opposition gets to one spot and the defence try and intercept it. once she gets the feel of this, vary where the pass is sent to. the other start technique is the figure of 8. 2 players stand about 5m apart and throw the ball to each other at a steady pace (this is really important). have your defence player stand behind a player and pick her timing to come around her player (without contacting) and catch the ball, then pass back to the person she received it from and continue running to that person on the angle and reset behind them. repeat (it will look like she is running in a figure of 8 around her players and intercepting as she gets in front). look up intercepting drill on here and you will find something similar. that should give you a start.
