How do you pivot
a pivot is when you change the direction of your body by rotating on your foot. Â 99% of pivoting is done on the ball of your foot and 1% is now being done on the heal (but this should only be done by your shooters to gain an extra few cms towards the goal).
there are heaps of video footage of this being done as it is one of the primary moves a netballer would do. Â but the basics is put most of your weight on the ball of your grounded foot and move around in a circle by pushing forward with your other foot and turning your hips towards the direction you now wish to face. Â
the main reason we pivot is because the person with the ball is unable to move due to the stepping rule and now has a grounded foot, but wishes her direction to pass so another player.
hope that helps.
What you say: I'm really enjoying looking at all the wonderful tips and coaching ideas you have on your site, the drills are very clear and easy to read and follow, which helps when trying to relay these to the young players. I'm new to coaching so all the help i can get is great. Keep up the drills and handy hints. Very impressed. Thanks Tracey. |
