Does anyone have any tips / ideas / drills on getting players to talk to each other during game play... not just calling for the ball when making a lead but directing play too? I have a team of mixed experience but when they play in a game you can almost hear a pin drop! Any advice?!
If you're looking for communication about positioning then get your two defenders or shooters to start by calling top and base to let each other know where they are in the circle and where the other player needs to be. The drill ball and hole on this site also covers much the same principle. I always encourage my girls to talk it up and encourage each other during the game it can be a really good motivator Good Luck
I get my girls in a circle, have two girls inside the circle, the girls on the outside have to pass the ball, but cant pass to the girl standing next to them. The two girls in the middle have to try and get the ball back, one defending the player on the outside with the ball, the other trying to intercept the pass, they MUST call out 'front' back' at all times, this gets them talking, make sure you control it and tell them to talk. also, the girls on the circle can not pass until they have a defender in front of them. Them swap them around.
