One hand shooter

I have a shooter that shoots with one hand. She has a great strike rate, if the conditions are in her favour (ie no wind, rain or glare) The defence manage to see her and the shot from a mile away and tend to load on her. How can I or can I do to show how to protect the ball prior to a shot?

technically ALL shooting should be done with just one hand.  it just looks like 2 as the second hand is used to steady and protect the ball during the shot.  the bigger question is, does she bring the ball right down in front of her chest to take the shot?  if the answer is yes (and i assume it is) then you need to rectify this.  if she already has a good shooting eye, then once corrected to be correct technique (ie up high and the ball is brought down above the head using one hand to shoot and the other for balance) then she will be shooting correctly and with less problems with defence.  however her strike rate will lower during the learning process, but will bounce back and probably be better than before.

What you say:
I'm really enjoying looking at all the wonderful tips and coaching ideas you have on your site, the drills are very clear and easy to read and follow, which helps when trying to relay these to the young players. I'm new to coaching so all the help i can get is great. Keep up the drills and handy hints. Very impressed. Thanks Tracey.
