What is the rule for wrist guard in netball?

I have a 13 yr girl in my team who has broken her wrist the last two sessions.(one on the court, one off) What is the rule regarding her wearing a wrist guard during the game? THe first game of the session, last week, the umpire wasnt going to let her on, but the other team allowed it.

cant say i have ever heard of one.  did you go up to the umpire conviener at the courts after the game to discuss it.they would have a thorough understanding of the rules.

Thanks lee-annes. no i didnt go the umpire conviener. But I will follow up next week. i am very new to netball and it has been a very steep learning curve to try to understand the rules and game tactics. Understanding of who is who at competitions is another thing altogether.  That particular game was a very nasty game and the other team targeted this particular girl, probably because of the wrist guard, and ended up badly brusing her ribs with full swing elbows, so my focus was more on her health and welfare during and after the game. Yes the umpire did pick up on the elbows but it was done in back play and she only just caught it but wasnt certain.

Andrew, if you feel that your team is (or any particular player) is being targeted, its up to you to get her off the court, or more so, remove the whole team from the game and go and make a formal complaint to the umpire and umpiring conveyor.  i find it terrible that the the coach of the other team allowed her team to play in such an unsportsmandlike manner.  but some coaches are like that.

netball isnt one of the easiest games to learn, and even more difficult to coach.  good on you for giving it a go.  i coached competetive trampolining with no trampolining experience, so understand that its difficult to be thrown in the deep end. what i did was teach what i did know (i was an ex gymnast from 20 years earlier...lol) and learn from there.   this site, other coaches at your club, your association, are all there to help support you.  use them, but please, if you ever feel that your team is in danger of being injured like that, you will make more of a statement by removing them from the courts and make an official complaint. teams like that need to be dealt with in a professional way.  i would hate for your team to think it was ok to play like that or to retaliate.  netball is meant to be fun.
