Hi Grace, thanks for getting in touch. There are a lot of things to remember when coaching a year 7 team. Here are some things to prioritise during your sessions:

  • Know the Basics: Understand the rules and techniques of netball.
  • Safety First: Ensure players have proper gear and a safe environment.
  • Set Goals: Establish clear goals for the team and individuals.
  • Teach Fundamentals: Start with passing, shooting, and basic positioning.
  • Emphasise Teamwork: Stress the importance of communication and support.
  • Rotate Positions: Allow players to try different positions to learn the game better.
  • Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to help players improve.
  • Boost Confidence: Encourage belief in abilities and celebrate successes.
  • Keep it Fun: Make practices and games enjoyable with fun drills and challenges.
  • Be Supportive: Listen to players, be patient, and foster a positive atmosphere.

We provide great drills and sessions that you can use to ensure that all of these things are present during your time coaching.

I hope this helps.
