can a netball coach move up and down outsidew court a few metres to encourage certain players while a game is in play

Hi Judy you may need to check the rules of the association the players play in. Coaching SP age players under 9s coaches are allowed to move up and down the court except at SP1 level. I am a Primary coach and coach under 12 the coaches of each team have a designated area they can coach from normally 2metres long cannot move outside that area.

Agree with Julie, generally associations have rules as to where coaches can stand. With ours there isn't a specific place but where the coach sets up is where they are expected to stay (within a few metres).

all i can say is if you get in the umpires way you will soon find out whether you can do it or not

generally for all coaches there are seats at every court, where they can sit. The umpire who is controlling that area must have a clear runway to umpire at all times, and the distance between the seats and the umpire and court should not affect all parties. Hope this comment helps for I am a umpire and have seen under 12yrs of age coaches apply to this rule.

our association reccomends coaches stand in one spot offcourt in the middle third. Also, there should be no spectators/supporters or other players standing alongside the third the umpire is working - this gives umpires freedom to umpire unhindered. The exception to this is for Under 9s/Netta players - the coach is allowed to move along courtside (but not along baseline) as long as they don't interfere with the umpires.

Depends on the age of your players.  In our association with the 7 and 8 year olds coaches ref and coach at the same time.  After that though, the coach must stand in one place on the side line.  If I have anything urgent to tell the players at the other end - I send a reserve player down to tell them %3A)
