does anyone have any plyometric exercises and programs to offer?
Plyometrics programmes should be sport specific, which sport are you looking for?
John is right that would make it easier Bram
golf please?
As you are looking to build yourself up for Golf, I would suggest that you try doing some "Core stabilty" excersises. These will greatly assist in you getting "balanced" for golf.
How old are you ?
Has your doctor confirmed you are fit enough for sustained excersise.?
How often do you play?
I would also suggest you speak to a local golf pro to see what style/type of program he/she would recommend for you specific.
Plyometric exercises are exercises that use the stretch shortening cycle and can be targeted to most sports, however there are many basic inplace low intensity exercises that should be completed during an anatomical adaptation phase. That is the first phase leading into strength training which allows the ligaments and tendons to be strenthened. Skipping, hoping and basic ankle popping fall into this level. All these types of exercsies should be introduced to athletes as young as possible so plyometrics can part of any programme from day one - it is all about reps (number of foot contacts), level of intensity and number of exercises in a session. Hope that helps.
